Chicago White Sox's Mark Teahen and many of his teammates, including Gordon Beckham, Matt Thornton and others, will host a benefit to raise awareness for Chrysalis, a domestic violence prevention agency. Guests will enjoy cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres during the reception and a live auction emceed by Mark Teahen. Guests will also be granted a raffle ticket with entry. Tickets can be pre-purchased for $30 at rockitbarandgrill.com or at the door for $40. The event is from 7pm to 9pm at Rockit's River North location at 22 West Hubbard.
The Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State St., presents "Body Language," today at 12:15pm. As part of the "Dancing in the Library" series, dancers from the Chicago-based Leopold Group will perform Lips of Their Fingers, exploring the art of pantomime and its relationship to dance. Sheffield Avenue) tonight to discuss The Wilder Life, her story of a road trip through the land of Little House on the Prairie, and the actual events, culture (remember the TV show?) and ideas that entails -- both for the book's characters and real-life inspirations, the author, and the people that feature in her journey into the life and times of Laura Ingalls Wilder. 7:30pm.
