Milwaukee Ave Arts Fest

The stretch of Milwaukee between California and Kimball becomes a network of art galleries, performance spaces, and entertainment venues from Friday to Sunday. Music, food, and art are on the bill. Event runs Friday 4-11pm and Sat-Sun noon-11pm. Admission $10 for all three days; individual day passes available.

You Only Shoot The Ones You Love@ Lifeline Theatre

Fillet of Solo presents Jeffrey Sweet's chronicles of thirty years of dealings with Del Close, Paul Sills and the mad pioneers of Chicago Improv in You Only Shoot The Ones You Love. This is the last performance of this show during the festival, and starts at 8:30pm at the Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Grease Sing-Along @ Music Box

Gypsy Pop-Up Restaurant @ Logan Square Kitchen

Chefs from Le Sardine and Le Bouchon team up tonight through Sunday at Logan Square Kitchen (2333 North Milwaukee) to present Gypsy, a pop-up restaurant. The menu looks delish---Fried Risotto Balls with Romesco Sauce, Duck Tacos with pickled Onion, Cilantro and Citrus, Vegetarian Crepe, Peanut Butter & Jelly Ice Cream and Mojito Sorbet. Around the World in 80 Hours @ Nothin' Less

In conjunction with the Third Annual Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival (July 29-31), the Logan Square café Nothin' Less (2642 N. Milwaukee) is hosting an event called "Around the World in Eighty Hours" which features music, dance, martial arts, film, and any other type of performance representing foreign cultures from all over the world. Tonight's lineup features: a Cuban dance presentation by Sway Studios at 6pm; traditional Irish music by Kevin Flynn at 7pm; West African percussionist K'oto Tu at 8pm; and jazz standards by the Matt Deceunynck Trio at 9pm. The Silent Film Society of Chicago Presents Why Change Your Wife?@ Portage Theater

The 2011 Silent Summer Film Festival continues tonight with a screening of the 1920 Cecil B. DeMille film Why Change Your Wife? starring Gloria Swanson, and featuring a cat fight scene between Swanson and her homewrecking rival, played by Bebe Daniels. Film starts at 8pm. Pierogi Fest

This weekend's PierogiFest brings together the cherished crescent of filled dough with the beloved outdoor festival to celebrate, imbibe and consume; you could also meet that special someone. PierogiFest is located a short drive away in Whiting, Indiana; the event runs Friday-Saturday (11am-10pm) and Sunday (11am-5pm) at 119th St and Indianapolis Boulevard.

Newberry Library Book Fair

The Newberry Library's annual Book Fair runs Thursday through Sunday, July 28-31, at the library, 60 W. Walton St. Browse more than 120,000 used books for sale, most priced under $2. The fair runs from noon to 8pm today. Free.

Printers' Ball

The Printers' Ball takes over Columbia College's Ludington Building, 1104 S. Wabash Ave., from 6pm to 11pm tonight. Peruse back issues and swag from the city's many print and online publications -- and take home as much as you can carry, for free! Lots of other stuff going on, too, including the monthly GB Get-Together!

Gapers Block and the Chicago Literacy Alliance are teaming up for a special meetup at this year's Printers Ball. Join us at the Chicago Literary Alliance's table in the northwest corner of the first floor, near the bar for conversation, then feel free to wander the Ball and pick up free literature of all sorts!
