Facets Cinematheque presents Facets Night School, its occasional series of midnight cult film screenings paired with guest lecture/discussion sessions. Tonight's movie is Hal Hartley's 1994 film Amateur. The discussion of the film will be headed by Julian Antos, film collector and archivist. Chicago Poetry Brothel sets up shop at Ristorante al Teatro, 1227 W 18th St., tonight from 8pm to midnight. Watch "poetry whores read for your pleasure, with burlesque performances scattered throughout the show. The theme this month is "Saints and Sinners." $5 if dressed in Victorian(esque) garb, $10 if not.
For more than 15 years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing raw, honest and thought-provoking comedy for print, stage, radio and television. A legend in the stand-up community, he has appeared on HBO, Conan, Letterman, his two Comedy Central Presents specials and almost every show that allows comics to perform. He will be performing at Mayne Stage (1328 W. Morse Ave.) Thursday, Aug. 4 at 8pm, and two shows Friday Aug. 5 and tonight at 8pm and 10:30pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.

Chicago teen poetry group Louder Than A Bomb (which you may remember from such films as Louder Than A Bomb) announce a collaboration with Victory Gardens Theater. The partnership will launch new playwriting curriculum for LTAB, with courses designed to explore the intersections of poetry, hip-hop and theater. Their first show, English Class Heretics, a "best of" LTAB showcase, finishes up tonight. Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln, 7:30pm. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased here.
Meet at Intelligensia Coffee in the Loop (53 E Randolph) today at 11am for a bike-guided trip to the south side for a tasting of several of the city's best Latin meat. Roscoe Village's annual Retro on Roscoe street festival takes over Roscoe Street from Damen to Oakley. Enjoy tasty food and drink, browse shops and stands, checkout an antique car show and rock out to music on three stages Aug. 6-7. Today's festivities run from noon to 10pm; "Retro Kids Fest" runs simultaneously from noon to 6pm at Roscoe and Hoyne. $5 suggested donation.
