It Came From the Neo-Futurarium: Red Dawn

The Neo-Futurists continue the 10th year of It Came From The Neo-Futurarium, their annual series of staged readings of movie scripts, with a remounted show from the 2007 series, Red Dawn (yes, the Cold War relic starring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen) directed by Neo-Futurist alumnus Phil Ridarelli. Prasino Opening

Tonight, CS Modern Luxury Chicago sponsors an exclusive opening event for the new Wicker Park restaurant Prasino. With two successful locations already operating in LaGrange and St. Charles, tonight the restaurant debuts in Chicago. Prasino is the Greek word for "green" and they strive to serve clean food in a modern, environmentally conscious setting. 6pm-9pm. Located at 1846 W. Division St.

Visit several bars featured in Chicago films tonight at 6:45pm with the Chicago History Museum. You'll meet at the CHM (North and Broadway), then get on a trolley for a tour. Admission $25-30.

Read 'em and Weep, Local Zine Reading Tour Kick Off

Read 'em and Weep, an aptly titled zine reading tour consists of four Chicago zinesters: Dave Roche (On Subbing and About my Disappearance zines), Leslie Perrine (mini-comic/fiction zine and an organizer of Chicago Zine Fest), Xavier Maldonado (poetry zine Explorers are We) and Jim Joyce (personal/nonfiction zine Or Let it Sink).

Joining them will be local zinester special guests Rosy Phinick (Bacterial Turned Viral zine) and Sara Drake (Arty Party comic zine).

The reading is Thursday August 11th, 7pm at 826CHI 1331 N. Milwaukee Ave.

Chicago Sex Worker Film Fest

The Chicago Sex Worker Film Festival screens Sittin' On A Million and Canal Street Madam tonight at the Everleigh Social Club, 939 W. Randolph St., from 7pm to 11pm tonight. Free. Presented in conjunction with the Jane Addams Hull House Sex Positive film series.
