Story Lab @ Black Rock

As a platform for new storytellers, Story Lab stands apart from other series in the city in its accessibility and unmitigated audience support for the performers. Who knows, next month it could be you standing up there in front of a live audience! Join Story Lab for an intimate evening of storytelling in the cozy back room of one of Chicago's best pubs, the Black Rock (3614 N. Damen). Each month, an entirely different lineup of up-and-coming storytellers share their freshest pieces. This month's readers include: Philip Buuck, Stephanie Douglass, KT Lark, Katie Pryor, Jim Stevens, and Michelle Renee Thompson. Hosted by Scott Whitehair of the reading series This Much is True. Anna Solomon at Woman and Children First

Anna Solomon will read from her first novel, The Little Bride. Special guest Audrey Niffenegger will introduce the event. This begins at 7:30pm at Women and Children First 5233 North Clark Street.

FearNoART with Jeff Zimmermann

Fear No ART host Elysabeth Alfano will be doing an in-depth conversation with Oak Street Beach muralist Jeff Zimmermann at the Apple Store of Lincoln Park, 801 W. North Ave., today at 7pm. They will be discussing how Zimmermann's mural came to be. Also learn how the making of the "Fear No ART series." There will also be Q&A time. Free.

Jennifer Gustafson Memorial Fund Show

Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., hosts a benefit show for the Jennifer Gustafson Memorial Fund. Gustafson was killed Aug. 25, leaving behind two children with their godmother. The show will raise money to help her family pay for school, clothing and other necessities. Big Science, Blind Staggers, Soft Candy, Jayh Johnson, Scott Lucas & the Married Men, US/UK and Siderunners perform, with potential additional surprise guests. There will also be a silent auction of artwork from Shane Swank, Erik Rose, John Airo and others, and a raffle for items from local businesses, including the Metro, Milios Hair Studio and Belmont Army. Doors open at 6:30pm. Admission is $10, with all proceeds going to the fund. 18+

Green City Market Locavore Supper @ Peggy Notebaert Museum

Come celebrate all things local with the champions of local food. While picnicking on a locally sourced supper from Limelight Catering, Dana Cox (local food activist, blogger, chef) will reflect on this years harvest and local eating. The event will be held in the south gallery of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum (2430 N. Cannon Drive) from 6pm to 8pm. Reservations are $30 per person can be purchased here.
