P. Fanatics Reading Series Gets Famous

P. Fanatics was touted in Newcity's Top 5 of Everything 2011 as one of the city's best reading series. The theme this month is Fame, how coincidental. If you haven't checked it out, take a chance on Sunday, January 8th.

Performers include Daniel Shapiro, Jac Jemc, Kathleen Rooney, Benicia Blue, Vanessa Pegram, Patrick Allen Carberry, and Jason Bredle.

Elvis Fest @ Mother's

The Original Mother's, 26 W. Division St., hosts its 12th annual Elvist Fest tonight starting at 5pm. Radio legend Dick Biondi will broadcast live from the bar from 5pm to 8pm, while attendees can compete in an Elvis look-alike contest and enjoy performances by multiple Elvis tribute artists. A free peanut butter and banana buffet will be available, along with drink specials. $5 suggested donation benefits the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. 21+

Wu-Tang Clan @ Congress Theater

Hip-hop juggernauts RZA, Raekwon, Method Man, GZA, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, U-God, and Inspectah Deck, otherwise known as the Wu-Tang Clan, will be at the Congress Theater, 2135 N Milwaukee Ave, tonight. Tickets range from $25 to $40. Doors open at 6:30pm

Sketchfest

The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, aka Sketchfest, runs from Jan. 5 to Jan. 15 this year at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. At least a dozen shows run every night; see the schedule for tonight's performances. Tickets are $12-13 each, available online or through the box office at 773-327-5252.

No Pants Subway Ride Chicago

The Chicago edition of Improv Everwhere's annual No Pants Subway Ride is today from noon to 3pm. Check the Facebook page for details about the starting point, and check your pants at the turnstile.

January's Women Who Bike Brunch

Hosted by the ladies behind "Let's Go Ride A Bike", this January's bike brunch will be hosted at Nightwood in Pilsen at 11am. Ladies around Chicago are invited to meet up for brunch, to discuss bikes and the delights of urban cycling. Beer Brunch @ SmallBar on Fullerton

SmallBar on Fullerton is amping up its brunch offerings for an installment of its popular beer brunch. Each menu item has been created with one of 3 Floyd's more unique brews in mind. New selections include spicy buttermilk fried frog legs, lamb shepherd's pie in black sun gravy and a soft scotched egg over handmade beef sausage and roman gnocci.
