Chicago Restaurant Week First Bites Bash
Chicago Restaurant Week kicks off with the First Bites Bash in the Grand Hall of Union Station, 500 W. Jackson St., tonight from 6pm to 9pm. Chef Stephanie Izard hosts the event, featuring sweet and savory tastes from more than 50 local restaurants, along with beverages from Moet Hennessy, Belveder and Blue Moon. Tickets are $125, with 100 percent of net proceeds going to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
10 Years of War @ Harold Washington Library
The Harold Washington Library, 400 S. State St., presents the Alliance Dance Company's 10 Years of War, today at 12:15pm. As part of the "Dancing in the Library" series, this performance centers on the concept of fighting for one's beliefs. Free. For more information, call 312-747-4300.
"This Is a Damage Manual" @ Theater Wit
"Have you ever been self-helped to death?" The dance theater event, "This Is a Damage Manual," opens tonight at the Theater Wit (1229 W. Belmont). Rock'n'Roll High School @ Doc Films
Doc Films, Max Palevsky Cinema in Ida Noyes Hall at The University of Chicago, 1212 E. 59th St., pairs with WHPK to present a series titled "Roxploitation." Tonight's screening is Rock'n'Roll High School, starring The Ramones, at 9:15pm. Tickets are $5.
