Ukulele Workshop @ Old Town School of Folk Music

Ukulele instructor Lanialoha Lee does an in-store appearance at the Different Strummer music store at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Avenue, tonight at 7:30pm to give a basic introductory ukulele workshop. The event is free and open to the public.

The Interrupters @ Francis Parker School

Francis W. Parker School, 330 W. Webster Ave., screens The Interrupters tonight at 7pm as part of its Nightviews speaker series. Following the film, Kathryn Saclarides, director of violence prevention at Enlace Chicago, and CeaseFire violence interrupter Eddie Bocanegra will discuss their work to interrupt the violence in Chicago neighborhoods. Tuesday February 7th, attend the the School of the Art Institute's Spring 2012 Visiting Artists Program series as they invite authors Sam Lipsyte and Ben Marcus. Both will be reading, followed by Q&A. Books will be on hand for purchase and possibly signing. The event begins at 6pm in the Columbus Auditorium, 280 South Columbus Drive
