Radar Eyes, Bare Mutants & Outer Minds @ Empty Bottle
Three of Chicago's most promising bands play a free show at the Empty Bottle tonight. Hozac rockers Radar Eyes celebrate the release of their self-titled LP with Bare Mutants and Outer Minds opening. The show starts at 9:30PM, is 21+ and free. The Empty Bottle's at 1035 N Western.
Chicago Reporter Release Party
The Chicago Reporter celebrates the release of its January/February issue with a party at M Lounge, 1520 S. Wabash Ave., tonight from 6pm to 8pm. Free, but registration required.
Ignite Chicago
Head to Catalyst Ranch, 656 W. Randolph St. #3W, tonight at Ignite Chicago, an evening of five-minute presentations on ideas and concepts. Admission is $5.
Shine Box Comedy @ The Burlington
Shine Box Comedy, a new stand-up comedy showcase every first Monday of the month at The Burlington, kicks off with James Fritz, the Puterbaugh Sisters, Nate Simmons, Jason Earl Folks, Stephanie Hasz and Andy Fleming. The show is free (with a $5 suggested donation), 21+. Doors at 8:30, show at 9:00.The Burlington is located at 3425 W. Fullerton Ave.
Dark Star Orchestra (as Terrapin Nation) @ Martyrs'
Grateful Dead cover band (and oh so much more) Dark Star Orchestra plays a second Chicago show this weekend, this time as Terrapin Nation at Martyrs'. They'll open up the song book and play everything from Jerry Garcia Band favorites to acoustic and folks songs the Grateful Dead used to do (but not very often), in addition to covering other artists like The Band and Bob Dylan. 18+ Tickets are $20.
