Facets Night School: Amin: The Rise and Fall

Facets Cinematheque kicks off its 10th session of Facets Night School tonight, with a screening of the 1981 biopic Amin: The Rise and Fall. Night School regular Lew Ojeda will be on hand to discuss the film. Facets Night School runs Saturday evenings through April 21; the lectures begin at midnight with a $5 fee. Music for Generations @ Illinois Institute of Technology

The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 10 W. 35th St., presents "Music for Generations," tonight from 7pm to 9pm. Held in the Schultz Auditorium and led by Senebella, the "Bronzeville Diva" and Robert "Baabe" Irving, this performance will feature musical selections from jazz greats including Billie Holliday. Crocodiles & Bleeding Rainbow @ Schubas

San Diego's Crocodiles have two albums full of noisy and psychedelic pop, Summer of Hate and Sleep Forever. Incessant touring has paid off for this band who's sounded nothing less than stellar in Chicago. Philadelphia's Bleeding Rainbow (who're on local label Hozac) open at 10PM. The show's 21+ and $14. Schubas is at the corner of Southport & Belmont.

Chicago Maritime Festival

The Chicago Maritime Festival takes place today at the Chicago History Museum, 1601 N. Clark St. The conference runs from 10am to 3:30pm and features seminars and discussions of maritime history, boat safety and culture. Then from 7pm to 11pm, musicians including Calico Jack, Tom Lewis and Serre l'Écoute perform sea shanties and other maritime music while attendees compete in a silent auction. Tickets are $14 for day activities (kids 12 and under are free), $20 for the evening concert or $25 for an all-day pass.

The Del Fuegos @ Lincoln Hall

Influential '80s band The Del Fuegos perform tonight at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., with Squat the Condos opening. Doors are at 9pm. Tickets are $20 online, $25 at the door. 21+

Afro-Beats! @ Harris Theater for Music and Dance

The Harris Theater for Music and Dance, 205 E. Randolph, hosts the Fulcrum Point New Music Project's Afro-Beats!, today at 2pm. This family-friendly, interactive performance explores West African culture in a multimedia performance, where audience members can participate in African dancing, drumming circles, and music. Tickets are $10; for more information, call 312-334-7777.

Heart Healthy Fundraiser @ Sacred Art
