Two Cookie and P. Fanatics Team Up Reading!
Two literary series team up twice this week, bringing featured readers, zines and cookies. Two Cookie Minimum and P Fanatics first mash up is scheduled for Tuesday April 3rd. The lineup includes Dan Shapiro, Maggie Ritchie, Laura Szumowski, Dave Snyder, Kieth Rosson (Avow zine from Milwaukee), Jill Summers, and Adam Drent.
Join hosts Mason Johnson and Johnny Misfit. The event at the Hungry Brain 2319 W. Belmont at 9pm. As always, there will be cookies.
Time Fite @ Subterranean
Subterranean welcomes Tim Fite, touring to promote his new studio album Aint Aint Aint. Opening act: Band Called Catch. Doors open at 7:30, show's at 8pm, tickets are $10, and it's 18+. Advance tickets available at the Subterranean Website. Subterranean: 2011 W. North Avenue. (773) 278-6600.
Tuesday Funk @ Hopleaf
Come for the 80 varieties of beer, stay for the storytelling. It's time for the April installment of Tuesday Funk at the Hopleaf (5148 N. Clark). Tonight's readers include Mary Anne Mohanraj, GB's own J.H. Palmer, Charlotte Hart, Mare Swallow, and Richard Chwedyk. Seating begins at 7pm, reading begins at 7:30pm, and admission is free. Cash only bar upstairs.
Swervedriver, Heaven @ Bottom Lounge
A good pedigree never hurts a band, right? Heaven consists of members who've done time with Ambulance Ltd, The Big Sleep, The Comas and Snowden, among others. The little music available from them so far (album to be released this fall) suggests a fine blend of their other projects, focusing on a psych/new wave angle. Heaven opens for Swervedriver at the Bottom Lounge. The show's $17, 18+ and starts at 9PM. The Bottom Lounge is at 1375 W Lake.
Sadermania @ Landmark Century
First Tuesdays with the Midwest Independent Film Festival presents Sadermania: From Fanship to Friendship. Directed and produced by Chicagoans Adam Gacka and Paul Matian (who will both be present for Q&A), the documentary follows the quest of a wrestling super fan to meet his idol, Hulk Hogan. Cocktail reception starts at 6pm, the film at 7:30pm, both at Landmark Century, 2828 N. Clark St. Tickets available in advance.
