Schadenfreude @ Gallery Cabaret

Sketch comedy troupe Schadenfreude puts on its first "rent party" show of the summer tonight at Gallery Cabaret, 2020 N. Oakley Ave., starting at 10pm. The theme is "NATO loves you," so expect lots of global warfare jokes. Admission is $10, with $1 off for anyone dressed like a NATO peacekeeper. 21+

Woodie Guthrie Centennial Concert @ Metro

Portoluz presents This Land is Our Land, a concert marking Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday, tonight at the Tickets are $26 general admission, $36 seated or $56 for VIP seating. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 8pm. 18+

Blackout Fest

HoZac Records' annual Blackout Fest music festival happens at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., all weekend long. Tonight's lineup features Redd Kross, Gentleman Jesse & His Men, Homostupids, Fungi Girls, Teledrome, Pleasure Leftists, Far-Out Fangtooth, Ketamines, Barreracudas and White Mystery. Doors open at 5pm. Tickets are $25 online or at the door. 21+.

The Late Live Show @Stage 773

Taking the classic talk show format and giving it with a contemporary sensibility, The Late Live Show has everything you'd see in a late night show. Previous runs have included guests like Danny Pudi from NBC's Community, Olympic gold medalist Shani Davis, and director of Hoop Dreams and The Interrupters, Steve James.

Shows are every Saturday for six weeks, beginning April 21 at Stage 773 (1225 West Belmont). Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here, or at the door.

Craft Day Afternoon @ Fizz

Fizz, 3220 N. Lincoln Ave., teams up with The Map Room for an afternoon of beer tastings from craft brewers and apps. Event benefits Hamilton Elementary School; admission starts at $50. Runs 1-5pm.

Lottie's Pub 78th Anniversary

Lottie's Pub, 1925 W. Cortland Ave., celebrates 78 years in business with an all-day and all-night party today, starting at 11am. Enjoy specials including 78-cent draft beers, $4 Jameson and $7.80 homemade 14-inch pizzas. There will be live music all day, and karaoke beginning at 8pm. No cover. 21+

Chicago Kids & Kites Festival

The 14th annual Chicago Kids & Kites Festival is today from 10am to 4pm on Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park, near Montrose Avenue. NATO has donated 5,000 children's kite kits, and there will be kids' activities such as facepainting and balloon artists on hand. Free.

Comics Philosophy & Practice Conference

The Richard and Mary L. Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry and the Mellon Residential Fellowship Program for Arts Practice and Scholarship present the Comics Philosophy & Practice Conference at The University of Chicago's Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, 915 E. 60th St., May 18-20. Day two begins at 9am and features panels focusing on the evolution of the graphic novel form with Robert Crumb, Joe Sacco, Phoebe Gloeckner, Charles Burns and Seth.
