Bowmanville Garden Walk

The neighborhood of Bowmanville holds its annual Garden Walk today from 10am to 4:30pm. Explore gardens, get advice from master gardeners and view a garden photography exhibition. Start at the welcome table at 5384 N. Bowmanville Ave. Free, $3 donation suggested.

Pocket Con @ Chicago Public Library

Today is Pocket Con at the Chicago Public Library, a one-day comic book convention for Chicago teens, focusing on artists of color or works featuring people of color. Featured presenters are Turtel Onli, Nnedi Okorafor, Jeremy Love and Khary Randolph, among others. Free; registration recommended. Chicago Public Library, Greater Grand Crossing branch, 1000 E. 73rd Street, noon to 6pm.

Fork and the Road: Oven Lovin'

Fork and the Road food tours by bike embarks on its Oven Lovin' tour, today, a vegetarian-friendly exploration of backed goods. The 16-mile tour pushes off from the Kitchen Sink Cafe, 1107 W. Berwyn Ave., at 11am, and ends back there at 4pm. Tickets are $50.

West Fest

Annual West Town Chamber of Commerce street fest with a focus on all things local, including music by the Empty Bottle. There are sub-fests too; PUPFest with vendors and activities for your canine companion and KidFest with everything to keep the small ones entertained. Today and tomorrow from 12-10 on Chicago Avenue between Damen and Wood. $5 requested donation to offset festival costs.

3rd Annual Great Midwest Ukefest @ Chief O'Neill's

The third annual Great Midwest Ukefest happens today at Chief O'Neill's, 3471 N. Elston Ave. The day kicks off with a 11:00am workshop by Lanialoha Lee from the Old Town School of Folk Music, followed by an extended open-mike session from 1pm to 6pm, and concludes with an evening concert featuring many regulars from Ukulele Cabaret evenings. Tickets are $10, and proceeds benefit the Intonation Music Workshop. Details available at the event's Facebook page.

Ties & Tassels Presents: A Fundraiser for Spiffy Kins @ Lizard's Liquid Lounge

Ties & Tassels is joined by more than 20 performers tonight to support fellow performer Spiffy Kins (aka Mae the bellydancer) and her partner after a fire destroyed their home and many of their belongings. Doors open at 6p.m. at Lizard's Liquid Lounge, 3058 W. Irving Park Road. Admission is $5 at the door (or more if you're so generously inclined).

The Film That Changed My Life: Raising Arizona

Filmmaker Jay Duplass will host a screening of the Coen Brother's classic Raising Arizona for the fourth installment of "The Film That Changed My Life" series, based on Robert K. Elder's book of the same name, at 9:30pm tonight at the Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Ave. Duplass will appear live to have a post-film discussion with Elder, and they'll sign copies of The Film That Changed My Life in the lobby afterward. Tickets are $10 online or at the box office. Duplass' new film, The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, screens at 7pm tonight as well; double-feature tickets are available for $15.50.
