Grilling Series @ Publican Quality Meats

Join the chefs at Publican Quality Meats (825 W Fulton Market) today from 3-8pm for a parking lot barbecue. They'll provide the meats (natch), sides, dessert and cocktails--and even seafood and veg alternatives. Chef Johnny Anderes from Telegraph will join PQM at the grill.

Young Magic @ Schuba's

Psychadelic band Young Magic makes a tour stop at Schuba's tonight for an 18+ concert. Doors open at 8pm and tickets cost $10. Acts Quilt and Brain Idea will also appear. Read our preview in Transmission.

Beer Church @ Pumping Station: One

Pumping Station: One presents Beer Church, an afternoon of beer tasting and discussion of the science of brewing. Attendees are invited to bring beer for a "potluck beer tasting," and also any homebrewing equipment you might have and perhaps are willing to let others use. Beer Church begins today at noon. Beach Poets

The Beach Poets, a tradition since it was started in 1990 by Cathleen Schandelmeier, brings poets together on the beach every Sunday in July at Loyola Beach at Greenleaf Avenue & the lake. Today's session will feature the editor of SEEDS Literary Journal, Lakeesha Harris and writer Janean Watkins, reading from noon to 2pm. Free.

The Vintage Bazaar

The Vintage Bazaar fills the Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence Ave., from noon to 5pm today. Browse more than 200 vendors of vintage decor, housewares, furniture, clothing, jewelry and accessories. CHIRP Radio deejays, and local restaurants serve food, beer and cocktails. Admission is $5, free for children under 12.

Pig Butchering Demo

If you've considered purchasing an entire butchered pig but are a bit intimidated by all the different cuts and possibilities, then you'd be wise to learn more about pig butchering. Thankfully Butcher & Larder is doing a pig butchering demo today at 5pm for $50 per person. But today's is extra special because farmer Janie Crawford of Crawford Farm will be present to share how her pigs are different from others and B&L owner Rob will explain why her's are perfect for charcuterie and curing.

Jaws @ Film Center

As part of a Universal Pictures retrospective the Gene Siskel Film Center presents a screening of Jaws this afternoon at 5:15pm.
