Arts & Craft @ Public House

The Chicago Artists' Coalition hosts Arts & Crafts, an event showcasing contemporary art inspired by local craft beers, tonight at Public House, 400 N. State St., starting at 6pm. Industry of the Ordinary, Brent Fogt, Alexandra Lee, Nancy Lu Rosenheim and Shawn Stucky created works inspired by Solemn Oath's Oubliette, Finch's Threadless IPA and Golden Wign, 5 Rabbit Golden Ale and Goose Island's four sisters collection -- all of which will be on tap. Tickets are $30.

Visiting Artists Series @ University of Illinois-Chicago

The University of Illinois-Chicago's African-American Cultural Center (AACC) presents "Visiting Artists Series," today from 4:30pm-6:30pm. This free reception and panel discussion, held at the AACC Gallery, 830 S. Halsted St., will feature exhibits by Chicago artists including Turtel Onli, Donna Radcliffe, Damon Reed, and more. Taste of the Nation @ Navy Pier Ballroom

Chefs from all over the city unite in the name of erasing hunger in the U.S. tonight at the Navy Pier Ballroom, 600 East Grand. Event runs 6-10pm; tickets start at $95.

Benefit for Ashley @ The Dark Room

The Dark Room (2210 W. Chicago) is putting on a benefit event for Ashley Pruneau, the Mana Food Bar cook who was assaulted in her home on July 1. $15 will get you music from DJ White Shadow, Casa del Sol, and Lightfoils, and food and gift cards from a number of local businesses. Encyclopedia Show Season 4 Anthology

The Encyclopedia Show hosts is annual Anthology show tonight at 7:30pm at the Vittum Theater, 1012 N. Noble St. The organizers, Robbie Q Telfer and Shanny Jean Maney, have pulled one reader from their past year to give a best of variety show. Talent includes Lynda Barry, an interview with Joaquin Vieira, LeKeja Dawson, David Kodeski and musician Naomi Ashley, Peter Cook (ASL performance poet), Jamila Woods, Chris Bower, Dan Shapiro and Janna Sobel. Tickets are $9, $6 for students.

Hallelujah I'm a Bum @ Portage Theater

Tonight at 7:30pm, the Northwest Chicago Film Society screens Lewis Milestone's Hallelujah I'm a Bum at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Their classic film series continues every Wednesday. Admission is $5.
