Evil Knievel Days Book Release Party at the Whistler

On Wednesday, August 22 at 7pm, the Whistler in Logan Square will host a book release party for author Paul Toutonghi's second novel, Evil Knievel Days. Toutonghi joins a sleu of Chicago writers including Jac Jemc, Mairead Case, and Beau Golwitzer. There will be music DJ Baby Sloth. The Whistler is located at 2421 N. Milwaukee.

Veggie Bingo @ Hideout

The Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., hosts Veggie Bingo from 5:30 to 8pm on Wednesdays. Co-sponsored by NeighborSpace, Hideout Veggie Bingo features a grand prize of fresh produce from Irv and Shelly's Fresh Picks, plus many more prizes donated by various local organizations and individuals. There are also free hot dogs donated by Hot Doug's! Bingo cards are $2 each, or three for $5; all proceeds benefit local gardens.

My Morning Jacket @ Millennium Park

My Morning Jacket will return to Chicago tonight for a show at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park at 6:30pm. Tickets are available in three price levels, with reserved seating for $64.50 or $59.50 and $20 for lawn seating. Read our preview in Transmission. UPDATE: Tickets are sold out, but you can probably hang out over by the Bean and hear just fine.

WBEZ Sound Opinions End of Summer BBQ @ Navy Pier

Celebrate the upcoming end of summer with WBEZ's Sound Opinions crew tonight on the terrace of Navy Pier, 848 E Grand, from 7-10pm. Food from Honey Butter Fried Chicken, the Butcher and Larder, Hoosier Mama Pie Company, Black Dog Gelato, Hum Spirits and Virtu Cider will be served. Tickets $35; discounted parking for $8.

This Day and Age @ Portage Theater

Tonight at 7:30pm, the Northwest Chicago Film Society screens Cecil B. DeMille's This Day and Age at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave. Their classic film series continues every Wednesday. Admission is $5.
