The Windy City Wine Festival returns to Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park today and Saturday. Sample more than 345 wines from around the world, enjoy gourmet food and live music. Tickets are $28 in advance or $35 at the door; designated driver tickets are $10. The festival runs from 4pm to 10pm today.
Lincoln Square's German American Fest runs Sept. 7-9 at the intersection of Lincoln and Leland avenues. Enjoy German draft beer, sausage and pretzels, German music and other cultural programming. Admission is free. The festival runs from 5 to 11pm tonight.
The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame celebrates the induction of Native Son author Richard Wright tonight at Cliff Dwellers Club, 200 S. Michigan Ave. On hand will be musical performances by Artemas and Louis Wright (the author's cousins), readings by Melvin Smith, playwright and actress Nambi E. Kelley, Paul Durica, sculptor Margot McMahon (creator of the award sculptures), Zarinah Ali from Realize Theatre Group and University of Chicago scholar Kenneth Warren. Busy Beaver Button Company celebrates the release of its latest Button-O-Matic series tonight from 6pm to 9pm at 3279 W.
