For Essay Fiesta's third anniversary show at the Book Cellar, 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 7pm, cohosts Keith Ecker and Alyson Lyon say goodbye and hand the reins over to Willy Nast and Karen Shimmin. Readers include David Finch, Dana Norris, Janna Sobel, Adam Guerino and Rachael Kossy. Free, but donations (benefiting 826CHI) are accepted.
Erasing the Distance presents Will You Stand Up?, a performance of five true stories exploring the connection between violence and mental health, at 7:30pm tonight in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at Center On Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted Ave., 3rd Fl. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. The show will also be staged Nov. 12, 13 and 20.
Indie rock group Delta Spirit headlines a show at the House of Blues, 329 N. Dearborn St., at 8pm. It will be their most recent return to the Windy City, since their intensely energetic set on the most sweltering day of Lollapalooza 2012, before the infamous storm hit. The sibling rock duo JEFF the Brotherhood performs as the opening act.
