Playground Theater 30 Hour Improv Marathon

What's better than live improv? Thirty straight hours of nonstop, donut-fueled live improv with some of Chicago's best teams for a good cause. The fun starts at The Playground Theater, 3209 N. Halsted St., tonight at 5pm, led by house troupe K.C. Redheart, and runs till 11pm on Saturday, Dec. 1. Admission is $5 for matinee shows, $10 for prime-time shows, and $25 for passes to the entire marathon, available at the door. Proceeds benefit the Chicago chapter of Reach Out and Read. Lill Street Holiday Art Fair

The Lill Street Art Center, 4401 N. Ravenswood Ave., holds its first-ever Student & Faculty Holiday Art Fair from 6pm to 10pm tonight. Shop jewelry, ceramics, paintings and more by 100+ artisans while enjoying live music and cocktails. Free admission.

Dan Smyth & Steve McDonagh Book Release

Dan Smith and Steve McDonagh, are doing a reading and tasting tonight at the Book Cellar, 4736-38 N. Lincoln Ave., at 7pm to promote their new cookbook, The New Old Bar: Classic Cocktails and Salty Snacks from the Hearty Boys. Free.

Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Tonight is the third annual Chicago Literary Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 7pm at the Chicago Cultural Center's Claudia Cassidy Theater, 78 E. Washington St. This year's inductees include Jane Addams, Sherwood Anderson, James T. Farrell, Ernest Hemingway, Langston Hughes and Carolyn Rodgers. Rick Kogan emcees. This year's event is free and open to the public, though reservations are recommended.

The Who @ Allstate Arena

British rock legends The Who will play the last of two shows at Rosemont's Allstate Arena, 6920 Mannheim Rd., tonight. Tickets range from $58-1506. The show starts at 7:30pm.

The Sh*t Show @ The Shambles

Wicker Park's Division street knows how to party, and tonight, 8pm at The Shambles, 2050 W. Division St., it's going to be a Sh*t Show. The Sh*t Show is a monthly stand-up comedy showcase that features dynamic lineups of alternative comics, funny storytellers and Chicago's top headliners. It's hosted by comedy Swiss Army knives Ever Mainard and Rasa Gierstikas. The show is free and be sure to check out this hysterical PG-13 promo video to see what's in store for you.

Pete Rock & CL Smooth @ The Shrine

Legendary hip-hop duo Pete Rock and CL Smooth bring their Anniversary tour to The Shrine, 2109 South Wabash Avenue, to celebrate 20 years since the release of "Mecca and the Soul Brother," an album indisputably ranked among the greatest hip-hop albums of all time. Tickets are $22 and can be purchased online or at the door, but it is highly recommended they be purchased in advance. Doors open at 9pm. 21+

Roctober Masked Rock'n'Roll Rumble @ Bottom Lounge

Roctober celebrates its 20th anniversary with the Masked Rock'n'Roll Rumble, a show at the Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., tonight at 9pm. Nobunny, the Goblins, Party Bat, Rhythm Chicken, Ratso & the Rabbits and DJ John Battles perform, and the first 100 people through the door get a free copy of Roctober magazine #50.Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door. 21+
