One of a Kind Show

The One of a Kind Show runs Dec. 6-9 in the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza. More than 600 artists from around the world display and sell their art, jewelry, clothing, housewares and more, including an Etsy vendor corral. There's also a program of workshops, fashion shows and music. The show is open from 11am to 8pm today. Tickets are $12, $9 for seniors over 65.

First Friday @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents this month's First Friday, an evening of sample classes, sing-alongs, and performances by dance & music classes at the school. ODLCO Holiday Shop and Open House

ODLCO opens a holiday shop in its studio at 1136 W. Randolph St. with an open house tonight from 6 to 9pm. ODLCO's full line of products and inventory will be available for purchase, plus production samples and one of a kind objects. Fresh-made Food Crypt donuts and cocktails will be served. Free; RSVP requested. The holiday shop will remain open noon to 7pm through the 19th (closed Mondays).

4045 Holiday Open Studios

The 4045 Rockwell Artists Community hosts a holiday open house this evening from 6 to 10pm at 4045 N. Rockwell Ave. Browse and purchase prints by Screwball Press, Dan Grzeca, Kathleen Judge, Baker Prints and others, while enjoying Three Floyds beer.

The Interview Show @ The Hideout

Mark Bazer's The Interview Show returns to the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight from 6:30 to 8pm. Guests this month include Craig Benzine of Wheezy Waiter, The Trenchermen's executive chefs Michael and Patrick Sheehan, WGN host John Williams, comedian Adam Burke and musical guest Architecture. $8 at the door. 21+

Houndstooth Ball @ Architectural Artifacts

This benefit for the great animal rescue group One Tail at a Time offers a dinner buffet, cocktails, entertainment from Toast and Jam, a silent auction, and games--and your dog is welcome! Event runs 7-10:30pm at Architectural Artifacts (4325 N Ravenswood); tickets start at $50.

Chicago Writers @ Uncharted Books

Uncharted Books, 2630 N. Milwaukee Ave., hosts a reading on the subject of obsession at 7pm tonight, featuring Robyn Okrant, Scott Onak, Michael McCauley, Chai Wolfman and Micki LeSueur. Hosted by Sarah Terez Rosenblum, who will read from her novel Herself When She's Missing. Free.

Too Much Light best-of shows @ Neo-Futurarium

The Neo-Futurists continue the tradition of showcasing the best plays from the previous calendar year by having a best-of weekend at the Neo-Futurarium (5153 North Ashland, at Foster). This weekend you'll see some of the best plays written for their flagship show Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind, with a huge cast of ensemble members performing their best work of 2012.
