The One of a Kind Show runs Dec. 6-9 in the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza. More than 600 artists from around the world display and sell their art, jewelry, clothing, housewares and more, including an Etsy vendor corral. There's also a program of workshops, fashion shows and music. The show is open from 10am to 7pm today. Tickets are $12, $9 for seniors over 65.
Trunk Club, the "personalized clothing service for men," hosts a Holiday Shopping Event at its headquarters, 325 W. Ohio St., Thursday from 6 to 9pm and today from 10am to 3pm. Shop for Trunk Club inventory in person, as well items from vendors including Perchance, Dana Rebecca Designs, Shred415, Belly Dance Maternity, Berco's Popcorn and Vosges Haute-Chocolate. Restaurant 25 Degrees will serve snacks. The first 400 customers will receive complimentary gift bags.
The Handmade Market returns to the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., today from noon to 4pm. Browse the handiwork of more than two dozen local artisans while enjoying the Bottle's ambiance and perhaps a beer. Free, 21+ except for children accompanying an adult.
SantaCon 2012 takes to the streets today. Get in your Santa costume and congregate at the Congress Plaza Hotel, 520 S. Michigan Ave., at 1pm. The parade of drunk Santas moves north from bar to bar, taking advantage of drink specials, until finishing at McFadden's at State and Division. Free, 21+
The Blind Boys of Alabama do a Christmas show at City Winery, 1200 W. Randolph St., tonight, with Ernie Henderson opening. Tickets are $38-$45. Doors open at 6pm, show's at 8pm.
Brendan Bayliss and Jake Cinninger, the guitarists of local jam band Umphrey's McGee, play their 10th Annual Acoustic Holiday Show at 7:30pm at Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave. This year's show benefits Snow City Arts, a charity that provides instruction of music and the arts to hospitalized children. There will also be a charity raffle and the 3rd Annual UM Holiday Garage Sale, auctioning off Umphrey's McGee memorabilia, at the venue. Tickets are $25.
AREA Chicago holds its 6th Annual Wants & Needs Auction tonight at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, 3219-21 S. Morgan St. from 8pm to midnight tonight. Bid on a broad range of skills, resources and adventures donated by supporters. $10 suggested donation at the door.
Chicago Reader and Galactic Zoo present the fourth edition of their ongoing Secret History of Chicago Music concert series at The Hideout tonight with the smooth voice of Chicago soul legend Renaldo Domino, along with special guest Andre Williams from Detroit. Locals Expo '76 back both performers. Tickets are $12, and the show begins at 9pm. The Hideout is located at 1354 W. Wabansia Ave.
