Dose Market's "HoliDose" edition is today from 10am to 5pm at the River East Art Center, 435 E. Illinois St. Shop among dozens of vendors offering fine art, crafts and gourmet foods. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. Children under 13 are free.
The One of a Kind Show runs Dec. 6-9 in the Merchandise Mart, 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza. More than 600 artists from around the world display and sell their art, jewelry, clothing, housewares and more, including an Etsy vendor corral. There's also a program of workshops, fashion shows and music. The show is open from 11am to 5pm today. Tickets are $12, $9 for seniors over 65.

Quimby's presents a one-day-only book fair today at the Empty Bottle (1035 North Western Avenue) from 2pm to 7pm. Plenty of local publishers and distributors will be here all afternoon selling their books. It's a 21+ event, and it's free if you RSVP at the Empty Bottle Website; otherwise the admission is $5. The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a celebration of Universal Pictures starting today and running through January 3. This afternoon's kick-off film will be Blind Husbands from 1919 at 3pm. Of Montreal play an all-ages show at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St., tonight, with Wild Belle and Foxygen opening. Tickets are $23. Doors open at 6pm, show's at 6:30pm.
Come out to Swim Cafe (1357 W. Chicago Avenue) for the December edition of That's All She Wrote, the new live lit series co-produced by GB staffer J.H. Palmer (hey, that's me!) and Angela Benander. TASW is a non-competitive live lit venue for storytellers of all stripes, this month's lineup includes: Jill Howe; Eileen Dougharty; Robyn Okrant; and M.T. Cozzola. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. This is a free event, and BYOB.
