The Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St., celebrates the Saint Lucia Festival of Lights this evening. A procession of St. Lucia carolers leaves the museum at 4:45pm to sing throughout the neighborhood; a program featuring live music and activities for the kids begins at the museum at 5pm. The procession is free; $1 admission or a canned food item is requested for the museum program, to benefit the local food pantry Care for Real.
The Old Town School of Folk Music presents their 14th annual holiday show Songs of Good Cheer, hosted by Eric Zorn and Mary Schmich. Evening concerts run at the school's main performance space at 4544 N. Lincoln Ave. today through Sunday, Dec.16. Tickets available from the school's website, or call (773) 728-6000.
Martyrs presents Burlesque-A-Pades, an evening of burlesque and entertainment from NYC. Featured act in the show: the World Famous Pontani Sisters! Burlesque-A-Pades starts tonight at 9pm. British Columbia's finest noise/rock duo Japandroids are riding high on the success of their new album, Celebration Rock. Their raw and aggressive live shows have put them in larger venues every time they've played Chicago. This year, they've graduated from Lincoln Hall to Metro and are sure to blow it out just like everywhere else. Japandroids headline tonight at Metro, 3730 N. Clark St. The show is 18+, $18 and starts at 9pm.
