Dan Telfer Farewell Show @ Mayne Stage

Comedian Dan Telfer is leaving for Hollywood, but he's doing one last show tonight at Mayne Stage, 1328 W. Morse Ave., with Adam Burke, Katie McVay, Dave Stinton, Sean Flannery and Ever Mainard helping send him off. Tickets are $13, $18 for reserved seating. Doors open at 7pm, show's at 8pm. 18+

Searching For Sugar Man @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a week-long run of the 2012 documentary Searching For Sugar Man, about the search for a long-lost Detroit singer-songwriter. 8th Annual Alex Chilton Birthday Bash @ Empty Bottle

Debunking the old adage that "December boys got it bad," a slew of bands will be on hand for the eighth Annual Alex Chilton Birthday Bash at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave. The event gathers groups like Azita, Certain Stars and Liam Davis & The Contestants and about a dozen others to play Chilton's songs from all stages of his career throughout the night. Tickets are $8 and are available here. Doors open at 8pm. 21+.

Lotus @ the Riviera

Lotus, an electronic-inspired jam band, plays the final show of the Chicago stint of its New Years run at the Riviera Theatre, 4746 N. Racine Ave., at 8:30pm. The Werks, a funky rock group known for its improv, will open. Tickets are $24. 18+.

Future Sounds of Buenos Aires @ Beauty Bar

FMEL Chicago and Soulphonetics present the Future Sounds of Buenos Aires Tour at Beauty Bar, 1444 W. Chicago Ave., tonight, featuring DJ El G, founder of What's Up Buenos Aires and ZZK Records, Soulphonetics‘ Christian Vera and Caswell James, and Sonorma. Doors open at 9pm. Free till 11pm, $5 cover after. 21+

Freedom Chicago Festivus @ Lincoln Hall

Freedom Dance Party Chicago celebrates Festivus at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight starting at 9pm. Tickets are $10, but a limited number of $5 tickets will be available at the door for women only until 11pm. 21+

Battle of the Saxes @ Green Mill

This weekend's Battle of the Saxes at the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway, will be a tribute to Von Freeman, the legendary jazz saxophonist who co-founded the annual battle. Freeman passed away earlier this year; in his place, Eric Schneider will face Ed Catch the show tonight at 9pm, Saturday and New Year's Eve. Tonight's cover is $15. 21+

Season's Geekings: A Gorilla Tango Burlesque Holiday Special

Season's Geekings: A Gorilla Tango Burlesque Holiday Special, starring Inara Rose, Diva LaVida, Lucita Bonita, Paly Flames, Sweet Ginger Rose, Phaedra Black, Vicki Van Go-Go, and Ruby Bourbon, has its last performance tonight at 9pm at Gorilla Tango Theater, 1919 N.
