Wicker Park Flight

You'll tour and sample foods and drinks from four of Wicker Park's best eating holes (Butcher and Larder, Prasino, The Bedford, and Frontier) beginning at 2:30pm; even the chefs will be on hand for questions. Tickets $145.

The Paper Machete

The Chicago Jazz Orchestra performs The Grand Wazoo and Other Delights: A Tribute to Frank Zappa at 7:30pm tonight at the Park West, 322 W. Armitage Ave. Tickets are $35. Doors open at 6:30.

Action Bronson & Chuck Inglish @ Reggie's

Action Bronson headlines Reggie's, 2105 S. State St., tonight, with Chuck Inglish of The Cool-Kids, Johnny Polygon and The Impala Sound Champions opening. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Doors open at 7pm. All ages.

Battle of the Saxes @ Green Mill

This weekend's Battle of the Saxes at the Green Mill, 4802 N. Broadway, will be a tribute to Von Freeman, the legendary jazz saxophonist who co-founded the annual battle. Freeman passed away earlier this year; in his place, Eric Schneider will face Ed Catch the show Friday, tonight at 8pm and New Year's Eve. Tonight's cover is $15. 21+

Mind Spiders @ Empty Bottle

Denton, TX punk rockers Marked Men will be taking care of the New Year's Eve festivities at the Empty Bottle this year, but tonight, frontman Mark Ryan warms up with his other Denton-based punk rock band, Mind Spiders. Mind Spiders released their second album Meltdown this year on Dirtnap Records, which features a slightly grittier brand of garage-punk than the more polished Marked Men. Dumpster Babies and The Novice open. Tickets are $10, and the show beings at 9pm. Empty Bottle is located at 1035 N. Western Ave.

Soul Clap & Dance Off @ Hideout

DJ Jonathan Toubin presents Soul Clap & Dance Off tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. Bring your best moves and compete for a $100 prize in the dance-off in front of guest judges Miss Mia Park, Renaldo Domino, Natalie and Elliot Bergman, Psalm One, and Jocelyn Brown. DJ Rob Sevier and Girl Group Chicago open. Doors are at 9pm. Tickets are $7. 21+
