Today Chicago Dramatists at 1105 W. Chicago Ave. is hosting an open house. Learn about their classes, meet instructors, take a backstage tour, check out panel discussions with resident playwrights. There will even be baked goods and raffle prizes. Event is free and runs from noon to 5pm.
The Chicago edition of the annual No Pants Subway Ride hits the CTA today from noon to 3pm. Keep your eye on the Facebook page for more details; it's usually on the Red Line, but you never know. Free.
The 12th annual Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival, aka Sketchfest, concludes today at Stage773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. Four stages feature six shows apiece beginning at 2pm today; see the full schedule for details. Tickets to each show are $14, or purchase a Sunday day pass for $45.
The 16th annual Fillet of Solo Festival runs Jan. 3-20 at the Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., and the Heartland Studio Theatre, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave. Tonight's performances are Sweat Girls at 4pm and Tellin' Tales Theatre with Tekki Lomnicki at 6pm at Lifeline, and Lifeline Storytelling Project at 4pm at Heartland Studio. Tickets for each show are $10, or buy a festival pass for $30.
Come out to Swim Cafe (1357 W. Chicago Avenue) for the January edition of That's All She Wrote, the live lit series co-produced by GB staffer J.H. Palmer and Angela Benander. TASW is a non-competitive live lit venue for storytellers of all stripes, this month's lineup includes: Mary Lorenz; Sheri Reda; Dmitry Samarov; Paul Dailing; and Barrie Cole. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. This is a free event, and BYOB.
