Dr. Seuss Day @ Open Books Chicago

Bring your favorite small fry to Open Books Chicago (213 W. Institute Place) today for Dr. Seuss Day from 10am to 1pm. There will be readings, face paintings, cake, crafts with Wishcraft Workshop, Seuss inspired acting games with Emerald City Theater and music with Marsha's Music. Oh, the things you can find if you don't stay behind! Suggested ages 3 and up. The day is in honor of Theodor Geisel's 109th birthday and Read Across America Day.

Creative Chicago Expo

The 10th annual Creative Chicago Expo runs Friday and today from 10am to 4pm in the Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. Attend workshops and browse vendors all day, and catch a keynote by chefs Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp today at 10:30am. Admission is free.

Artisan Food Warehouse Sale @ The Scrumptious Pantry

Logan Square's "hierloom-focused gourmet food shop," The Scrumptious Pantry (3230 W. Fullerton), hosts a warehouse sale today from 11am - 2pm. Come by to peruse products from some of Chicago's highest-quality artisans and foragers and come away with some unique condiments, baked goods, and snacks at highly discounted prices! The event is free and complimentary virgin Bloody Marys will be served.

Chiditarod

The Chiditarod shopping cart race runs today beginning at 12:30pm from 1900 W. Hubbard St. Watch teams of flamboyantly dressed folks power their shopping carts around the near West Side in a quest for canned goods and glory. The first teams usually reach the finish line at Bottom Lounge, 1375 W. Lake St., around 2:30pm, where the awards ceremony will be held around 5:30pm. Free.

Windy City BREWHAHA

Unlimited beer tastings from some of the United States' best breweries? You had me at "beer." For $45, join other Chicagoans looking to escape the winter blues at BREWHAHA, a "celebration of beer" located at the Skyline Loft at the Bridgeport Art Center, 1200 W. 35th St. Featured breweries include Half Acre, Revolution, Three Floyds and Haymarket. Tasting sessions run from 1pm to 4pm and 6pm to 9pm.

The After Party Show @ Studio Be

In an intimate "afterparty" setting, this show features a blend of musicians, comedians, dancers, singers and variety performers. The After Party Show runs Saturdays at Studio Be (3110 N. Sheffield Ave) until March 30, 2013, with two different shows each night, beginning at 10pm and 11:30pm. The show is BYOB and tickets are $12 or $20 for both.
