International Sex Workers Rights Day Brunch

The Sex Workers Outreach Project Chicago hosts a potluck brunch and series of talks today from noon to 2:30pm in celebration of International Sex Workers Rights Day. The event will be held in a space near the Southport Brown Line stop; RSVP to meg@swop-chicago.org or on Facebook for the address.

Here's the Story @ Stage 773

Here's the Story, a storytelling series combined with a potluck is back at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, tonight. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. This month's featured performers include Ian Belknap of Write Club, author Paulette McDaniels, musical duo River Rising, and actress Audrey Flegel. There is also an opportunity to sign up for open mic slots, to be drawn. Tickets are $8 or free if you bring a dish to share for the potluck. Buy tickets here.

University of Chicago's Doc Films screens the 1928 Buster Keaton classic Steamboat Bill, Jr. tonight at 7:30pm in the Max Palevsky Cinema in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 E. 59th St. Admission is $5.

Bitchin' Purge @ Jerry's

Jerry's Sandwiches, 1938 W. Division St., hosts Bitchin' Purge, an "experimental story slam" featuring service industry workers talking about customers, tonight at 8pm. Steve Shields hosts, and standup comedian Danny Kallas performs. $5 donation at the door benefits the Maebell Ward Foundation.
