Chicago Latino Film Festival

The 29th annual Chicago Latino Film Festival, organized by the International Latino Cultural Center, runs April 11-25 at the AMC Loews Theatres 600, 600 N. Michigan Ave. Today's screenings begin at 5pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets to each film are $11.

CIMMfest

The Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, aka CIMMfest, runs April 18-21 at multiple venues. Tonight's events begin at 6pm; see the schedule for full details. Tickets for individual events vary; get a festival pass for $50.

Third Fridays @ Zhou B Art Center

Every third Friday of the month, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Zhou B Art Center,1029 W. 35th Street, a multi-floor, multi-discliplinary art and culture venue composed of artist's studios, art galleries, gathering spaces and the Zhou B Café & Art Lounge opens its doors to the public. On Third Fridays, resident and international artists exhibit their newest works in various media for the consumption of collectors, artists, and anyone else with an interest in art. The event also offers the opportunity for the public to interact with the artists who created the exhibited works. The event is free to attend, and free refreshments are provided.

Ag47 Showcase @ Hairpin Arts Center

Logan Square arts mentorship collective Ag47 (previously profiled on Gapers Block) holds its fourth annual showcase at Hairpin Arts Center, 2800 N Milwaukee, from 7 to 10pm. For the event, youth artists and their adult mentors collaborated to create art that explores the questions "How does the world infect you? How will you infect the world?" The suggested donation for the event is $10, which supports Ag47's arts mentorship programming with girls aged 11-17. Live poetry, performance, and multimedia art exhibits promise an infectious evening.

One-Night-Only Performance: Jay Chandrasekhar @Laugh Factory

Laugh Factory Chicago will host a one-night-only comedy performance by Jay Chandrasekhar, known for his role as Thorny in Super Troopers and Barry in Beerfest.

Hem @ Old Town School

It's been nearly seven years since Hem's last proper album, but the New York-based band is back with Departure And Farewell in 2013. It's another glorious effort of folk with orchestral arrangements highlighted by Sally Ellyson's ethereal voice. The band return to Chicago for a headlining show at Maurer Hall at Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave. It's $22 for the public, $20 for members and starts at 8pm.
