Recipe for Success @ U of C Law School

If you're interested in shutting down your thriving medical practice (or quitting your insurance paperwork-processing gig) and starting your own food truck, the Institute for Justice (which has been a huge advocate for the city's food truck vendor community) is holding a daylong workshop this Saturday at the U of C Law School (1111 E. 60th St.) for newbies to the game. Topics covered are how to navigate licensing, hiring, marketing, and business strategies; meals included. Registration required; event is free to attend.

Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo

The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, aka C2E2, runs April 26-28 in McCormick Place West, 2301 S. Lake Shore Dr. Attend panels, browse the trade show floor, catch film screenings and meet such celebrities as Felicia Day, Ron Perlman, Kevin Smith, Patton Oswalt and Bruce Boxleitner. Artisanal Producer Festival @ French Market

Pastoral is hosting dozens of artisanal cheese, wine, meat, bread, and confection producers from around the world at the French Market from 11-3 pm. Spend a lovely afternoon schmoozing with farmers, distillers, and chefs, sample to your heart's content, and leave with unique, hard to find gourmet treats. Bingo, Board Games & Beer @ Independence Tap

Join Feast for Friends at the Independence Tap from 1 to 4pm for an afternoon of beer, bingo and board games. This event is in support of Eugene Field Park's demonstration garden efforts, including offering nature education to low-income children and painting a mural. Adult admission is $15, which includes pizza and a drink ticket. Children five and older are $5. This is a family-friendly event.

The Paper Machete

Promic-Con @ SAIC Ballroom

If you missed your prom in high school, 826CHI makes up for it at tonight's Promic-Con at the SAIC Ballroom (112 South Michigan Avenue) from 8pm-midnight. Formalwear or (superhero? anyhero?) costumes encouraged; raffles, dancing, a silent auction and an open bar (unlike high school) await you. Tickets $40-75. Proceeds benefit 826CHI's writing programs for city schoolchildren.

Chunks: A One Woman Show @ Powell's Bookstore

Caitlin Bergh presents her one woman show, Chunks, on the stage at Powell's Bookstore (2850 N Lincoln). Chunks is a series of funny stories about being yourself, even if you are disgusting. Fresh openers each night. $5, BYOB, show starts at 7:30pm. Saturdays April 20 through May 11.

Shoeshine Boy 13th Anniversary Show @ Double Door

Shoeshine Boy Productions celebrates its 13th anniversary with a concert at Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave., featuring several of its clients. Workout Music headlines, with Farraday, Vintage Blue and the Chris Buehrle Band in support. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Doors open at 8pm, show's at 9pm. 21+

Facets Night School: The Cannibals

Facets Cinematheque presents Facets Night School,a cult film paired with a discussion of the film, tonight at midnight. Tonight's film is the rare Portuguese horror film the Cannibals (Os Canibais), paired with a lecture by independent filmmaker Michael Smith.
