The Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo, aka C2E2, runs April 26-28 in McCormick Place West, 2301 S. Lake Shore Dr. Attend panels, browse the trade show floor, catch film screenings and meet such celebrities as Felicia Day, Ron Perlman, Natalie Dormer, Julie Newmar and Bruce Boxleitner. The Read/Write Library presents "Rock Paper Scissors," a benefit book sale and craft party at Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., from 1pm to 5pm. Browse through tons of books, zines and other stuff that's been donated but didn't fit in the library's Chicago-centric collection, or pick up a prefilled "mystery bag" for $5. The Letter Writers Alliance will be leading book and paper craft fun, and the bar will of course be open. $5 at the door benefits the library. 21+
The DuSable Museum, 740 E. 56th Pl., presents "Remembering Mayor Harold Washington," today from 2pm-5pm. This special tribute to Washington, Chicago's first African-American mayor, will feature a documentary of his speeches as well as words from his friends and colleagues around the city. Big Star sous chef Joseph Gleeson was hit by a car April 4, resulting in a broken wrist and thumb. He's been unable to work, so friends and colleagues are throwing a benefit to help cover medical expenses at the Charleston, 2076 N. Hoyne Ave., tonight from 6pm to 2am. For a $5 donation at the door, you get one drink and a ticket for a raffle that includes gift certificates and items from Big Star, Butcher & Larder, Girl & The Goat, Reckless Records and more. Four DJs will spin, and food will be served. 21+
