Food policy writer Michael Pollan and Tribune food writer Monica Eng appear at the Harris Theater tonight as part of the Chicago Community Trust's 98th anniversary celebration. Event begins at 5pm; tickets $125.
Pumping Station: One, the Chicago hackerspace, presents an open house tonight starting at 6:00pm. The public is invited to come learn about the space, what the group does, and how you can join them. The event is free and open to the public. Pumping Station: One is located at 3519 N. Elston.
The Moth's monthly Chicago StorySLAM is tonight at Martyers', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave. Come hear true stories told without a script, and vote for your favorite. The theme tonight is "mystery." Doors open at 5pm, show starts at 8pm. Get there early and you might even be able to sign up to tell a story yourself! Admission is $8. 21+
