Palma Violets @ Schubas

You can't seem to go a week without hearing excessive praise about a new British band. But sometimes it's warranted. Palma Violets' 180 album is dirty, poppy and incredibly catchy. (Listen to "Best of Friends" and try to not get it stuck in your head. Impossible.) The band's hooky garage/psych rock angle isn't a huge revelation, but it one-ups many of their contemporaries. Palma Violets headline Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave. The show's $14, 21+ and starts at 9pm.
