Wavefront Music Festival
Wavefront Music Festival runs July 5-7 at Montrose Beach, 4400 N. Lakeshore Dr. Headliners tonight include Diplo, Justice, Psychemagik, Hot Natured and Nicolas Jaar; with dozens of artists performing each day, it's easier to just point you to the schedule for the rest. Gates open at 11am, first acts go on at noon. Tickets are $80 for one-day passes ($180 for VIP access); three-day passes are $220, or $350 for VIP.
Windy City RibFest
Ribs take over the Lawrence and Broadway intersection this weekend, July 5-7 for the Windy City RibFest. Entertainment, arts and crafts for the kids, and of course, the ribs are part of the occasion. The festival is open from noon to 9pm today. Suggested admission $5.
Pop-up Book Fair @ Empty Bottle
Curbside Splendor is back with its Pop-up Book Fair today at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Ave., from 12:30 to 5pm. More than 40 local independent publishers, presses and organizations sell their wares, while DJs spin throughout the day. See our preview in Book Club. $5 cover. 21+ unless accompanied by a parent.
Here's The Story @ Stage 773
A potluck/featured readers/open mic storytelling event, Here's The Story takes place the first Sunday of the month at Stage 773 (1225 W. Belmont). Tickets are $10 or free with a potluck dish. Doors open at 7:30pm, stories start at 8pm.
