Essay Fiesta @ Book Cellar
Essay Fiesta returns to the Book Cellar, 4736 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 7pm. Karen Shimmin and Willy Nast host a reading featuring Scott Whitehair, Rosamund Lannin, Scott Stealey, Carrie McDonald and Jeffrey Miller. Free.
Ulzana's Raid @ Patio Theater
The Northwest Chicago Film Society presents a screening of Ulzana's Raid, starring Burt Lancaster, tonight at 7:30pm at the Patio Theater, 6008 W. Irving Park Rd. Tickets are $5.
That's Weird, Grandma
Barrel of Monkeys is an ensemble of actors/educators who hold creative writing workshops with Chicago Public School students and perform their pupils' imaginative stories. The result is That's Weird, Grandma, their weekly show presented every Monday at 8pm at the Neofuturarium in Andersonville, 5153 N. Ashland Ave. The show is wackily witty, fast-paced, laugh-a-minute, and truly a thrill for all ages, and has been hailed by chicagotheater.com as "part pep rally, part musical theater extravaganza -- and one of the most real, uplifting and engaging theatrical experiences in town." $10 for adults, $5 for children, tickets available at the box office or on the BOM website.
