Jazz Fest

The Chicago Jazz Festival runs Aug. 29 to Sept. 1. Opening day today sees events at the Cultural Center, Roosevelt University and Millennium Park, beginning at noon. Free.

Delilah's 20th Anniversary Party

Delilah's celebrates its 20th anniversary this evening starting at 4:00pm. Among the events scheduled: an art opening featuring local artists; a tasting of their 20th anniversary whiskey; DJ-ing by Casino El Camino from Austin, TX; and many more surprises. Chicago Fringe Festival

The Chicago Fringe Festival runs Aug. 29-Sept. 8 at several venues in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. More than a dozen performances of theater, sketch comedy, spoken word and other experimental works stage tonight, beginning at 7pm; see the schedule for details. There's also an opening night reception at 6pm at "Fringe Central," Fischman's Liquors, 4780 N. Milwaukee Ave. Admission buttons are $5 (they're required to get into any show); tickets are $10 per show. You can also buy five- and 10-ticket packs for $45 or $80, respectively, or go to everything for $180.

Music Quiz Show Showdown @ Hideout

Teams of four face off in a test of ultimate rock scholarship to win concert tickets, signed items, posters, vinyl and... bragging rights tonight at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave. The evening benefits Rock for Kids, which provides music education for at-risk youth in Chicago Public Schools. Register your team online. Game Show Entry Cost: Team of 4 for $40 ($10 a person) or $15 an individual (will be placed onto a random team of 4). Stoop Style Stories @ Rosa's Lounge

Stoop Style Stories, the brainchild of live lit goddess Lily Be and her partner in crime Clarence Browley, takes place monthly at Rosa's Lounge, 3420 W. Armitage. It's laid back, and newcomers are welcome. In addition to open mic slots there will be featured storytellers including Dana Norris, JH Palmer, Lawrence Binkey Tolefree, Carly Oishi, Keenan Camp and Vito Vitxauskas.
