German Fest

The annual German Day Festival takes over Lincoln Square, on Leland from Western to Lincoln and Lincoln to Eastwood, Sept. 6-8. The festival runs from 10am to 9pm today, with music, beer and German food. Admission is free.

Renegade Craft Fair

The Renegade Craft Fair runs Saturday and today on Division Street from Damen to Paulina from 11am to 7pm. Shop among more than 300 of artists and crafters, check out the pop-up vintage market by the Vintage Bazaar, and take part in workshops by Lillstreet Art Center, Chicago School of Shoemaking and the ReBuilding Exchange. Admission is free.

Kegs for Kids @ Hopleaf

Hopleaf holds its fourth annual craft beer tasting party with proceeds benefiting Helen C. Peirce elementary school. Sample from a selection of over 60 different beers as well as food from local restaurants and coffee from Metropolis. Check out details and purchase tickets here. 12 pm- 5pm; tickets are $40 online and $50 at the door.

Chicago Fringe Festival

The Chicago Fringe Festival runs Aug. 29-Sept. 8 at several venues in the Jefferson Park neighborhood. More than two dozen performances of theater, sketch comedy, spoken word and other experimental works stage today, beginning at 2:30pm; see the schedule for details. The festival closes tonight with its Anti-Oscars awards ceremony, to be held at Fringe Central (Fischman's Liquors, 4780 N. Milwaukee Ave.) at 10pm. Admission buttons are $5 (they're required to get into any show); tickets are $10 per show. You can also buy five- and 10-ticket packs for $45 or $80, respectively, or go to everything for $180.

UCLA Festival of Preservation @ Film Center

The Gene Siskel Film Center presents a month-long series of films being restored and preserved by the UCLA Film & Television Archive. The festival kicks off this afternoon with a screening of Robert Altman's seldom-seen 1969 film That Cold Day In The Park, and runs through October 2 with such titles as 1933's madcap comedy International House, the Clara Bow silent film Mantrap, and the legendary 1950 film Gun Crazy. Reggies 6th Anniversary Show

Reggies, 2105 S. State St., celebrates six years with a jam-packed concert tonight, featuring the Dictators NYC, Angry Samoans, Downtown Brown, the Jetbirds, Last False Hope and I Love Rich. Doors are at 7pm. Tickets are $10 online or at the door. 17+

That's All She Wrote @ Swim Cafe

The live lit series That's All She Wrote, co-hosted by GB contributor JH Palmer and Angela Benander, returns to Swim Cafe, 1357 W. Chicago Ave., tonight. In addition to stories from the co-hosts, guest readers include Jennifer Ann Coffeen, Roger Bonair-Agard, Stephanie Douglass and Erin Diamond. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm. This is a free event, and is BYOB.

Beth Orton @ Old Town School of Folk Music

Singer-songwriter Beth Orton performs at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 9pm. Tickets are $30 ($28 for Old Town School members). All ages.
