Riot Fest @ Humboldt Park

Riot Fest returns to Humboldt Park for a weekend of punk rock and carnivalling. Fall Out Boy and Danzig headline Friday night; full schedule here. Some two-day and daily tickets are still available. Jeni's Scoop Shop Preview Party

Columbus-based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams' first Chicago scoop shop, at 3404 N. Southport Ave., officially opens at 11am Saturday, but there's a preview party tonight from 7 to 10pm, with free samples for everyone and commemorative posters for the first 50 attendees, and owner Jeni Britton Bauer will be in attendance.

2½ Persians Present @ Lincoln Hall

2½ Persians presents an evening of standup tonight at Lincoln Hall, 2424 N. Lincoln Ave., featuring Jeff Arcuri, Chris Bader, Saurin Choksi, Paul Farahvar, Kyle Scanlan, Alex Stone, Andy Boyle and John West. Tommy Mac emcees. $8 online, $10 at the door. Doors open at 7pm. 21+

Bare Mutants (Record Release), Verma @ Empty Bottle

Hitting the Bottle to mark the release of their new LP, The Affliction, local mainstays Bare Mutants return for a triumphant night of tightly wound garage pop, fronted by the ever-dashing Jered Gummere. Yeah, they've spent the better part of the last year or so opening for some of the best garage rockers around (Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, et. al.), but tonight they're the ones topping the bill.
