The second annual EXPO CHICAGO, the International Exposition of Contemporary and Modern Art, opens for the fall art season at Navy Pier's Festival Hall (600 E. Grand Avenue). This three day convention features a broad spectrum of modern and contemporary artwork from over 125 top international galleries. Studio Gang Architects' Jeanne Gang designed this year's clever floor plan, patterned after Chicago's gridded streets and lined with gallery exhibitions. The 2013 redesign also includes EXPO VIDEO, featuring modern and contemporary video artwork. 11am - 6pm. One day pass is $20.
The Empty Bottle hosts Beat Swap Meet Chicago, an afternoon of record vendors and DJs playing their rare vinyl. CDs not invited! Ever wonder if the wines produced in Illinois are any good? Vintage Illinois is your chance to find out! Over 25 wineries across the state will be pouring their finest wines in picturesque Matthiessen State Park. There'll also be entertainment and food vendors at the festival, and guests can bring their own food. Pets are welcome. The festival runs from 11-6 on Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. Tickets are $20 for wine tasters and $5 for designated drivers. Tickets available here.
Craft beer (lots of it -- from places like Revolution, Begyle and Off Color), live entertainment, and shopping make up Andersonville's City Made Fest, which runs Saturday and today on Clark Street between Argyle and Carmen, from noon to 9pm. $5 suggested donation.
The Chicago In White dinner event takes place tonight at a mystery location. Guests dress in white and meet at one of several "harmonizing points" in the city, then converge on the location with their own silverware, plates, glasses, white napkins and even food. Tickets are $55 for two and cover the cost of organizing the event and table and chair rental. 21+
