Bill Berkson & Jennifer Karmin @ Glass Curtain Gallery

Bill Berkson joins Jennifer Karmin for a poetry reading tonight at 6pm at Glass Curtain Gallery (1104 S. Wabash). A founder of the experimentally minded Red Rover Reading Series, Karmin often writes for multiple voices and tonight will bring up collaborators Stephanie Anderson, Bryan Mornar, Laura Goldstein, and Kenyatta Rogers to share the stage with her. Free. UPDATE: Bill Berkson has had to cancel due to health issues. The organizers hope to schedule another performance soon.

Tuesday Funk @ Hopleaf

Tuesday Funk, the eclectic monthly reading series in the upstairs bar at Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St., this month celebrates the release of Glitter & Mayhem: The Speculative Nightclub Anthology, with readings by authors and editors from the book including Maurice Broaddus, Kyle S. Johnson, William Shunn, Laura Chavoen and John Klima. Also appearing are Noël Jones, Holly McDowell, and Order of Odd-Fish author James Kennedy. Andrew Huff and William Shunn host. Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm. Free, 21+

Rookie Yearbook 2 Release @ Unity Temple

Tavi Gevinson celebrates the release of the Rookie Yearbook Two tonight at Unity Temple, 875 Lake St. in Oak Park, at 7pm. Tickets are $10, which counts as a discount on a copy of the book.

Baudelaire in a Box @ The Hideout

Tuesday, October 1st, visit The Hideout (1354 W. Wabansia) to experience a musical rendition of French poet Charles Baudelaire's Les Fleurs du Mal. Beginning at 9 PM, Ronnie Kuller, Jeff Dorchen and Chris Schoen will sing 15 of Baudelaire's poems as paintings by Dave Buchen scroll alongside. The opening act is 80 Foots Per Minute. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door.

Atlas Genius @ House of Blues

Atlas Genius play tonight at the House of Blues (329 N. Dearborn Street) in support of their debut major release, When it Was Now, which finds the Australian trio embracing the seemingly effortless alt-pop of Phoenix's highly influential, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Check out a video of them performing their single "If So" at Lollapalooza earlier this year. Family of the Year and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. kick the night off. This is an all ages show. Tickets are $25. Doors open at 5:30.
