Tonight at 6pm, Logan Square restaurants (including Fat Rice, Telegraph, and Longman and Eagle among others) team up for the second annual Logan Square Chef's Dinner to benefit Comfort Station gallery. The six-course meal includes wine, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres. Hosted by Lula Cafe, 2537 N. Kedzie Blvd. Tickets are $175.
The 31st Reeling LGBT Film Festival runs Nov. 7-14, screening at multiple venues throughout the city. See the schedule for details. Tickets for individual screenings range from $9 to $12. Five- and 10-film packs, full festival passes and VIP passes are also available.
Write Club heads north to SPACE, 1245 N. Chicago Ave. in Evanston, for a "media" edition tonight at 7pm. Ian Belknap lords over emcees the proceedings, as writers go head to head to win the approval of the audience while espousing opposing viewpoints. This time, Diana Slickman does Prose while J.W. Basilo does Poetry, David Isaacson champions while Ian Belknap praises Video, and Mary K. Fons goes Digital vs. Andrew Reilly keeps it Analog. It's $10 cash at the door.
The Polish Film Festival in America runs Nov. 8-24. Films screen at Facets Cinematheque, 1517 W. Fullerton Ave., Gallery Theatre, 1112 N. Milwaukee Ave., and Muvico Rosemont 18, 9701 Bryn Mawr Ave. in Rosemont. See the full schedule for details. A staged reading of A Damp Drizzly November in My Soul: A Tribute to Melville's Moby Dick will be performed at 8pm tonight at The Grafton Pub in Lincoln Square. The script was written by June Skinner Sawyers, based on Moby Dick by Herman Melville and Ahab's Wife or the Star-Gazer by Sena Jeter Naslund. Musician and producer Matt Ryd passed away Aug. 4 after a long battle with anxiety, depression and eating disorder. Looking for Home, a celebration of the life and music of Mat Ryd, is at Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight at 8pm. Lady Laura, Cobalt & the Hired Guns, Xoe Wise, Jess Godwin, Goodbye Home, Jeff Brown, Suspension and Common Shiner. Admission is $11, with all proceeds going to ANAD or NEDA. 21+
