WinterDance @ Cultural Center

Like SummerDance, WinterDance is a series of one-hour dance lessons by professional instructors followed by dances hosted by local DJs. WinterDance runs Jan. 3-5 in the Yates Gallery on the 4th floor of the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph St. Tonight's dance style is Chicago Steppin' -- Dawud Shareef and Lura Satterfield lead a class at 6pm, and DJ Mellow Khris spins from 7 to 9pm. Free, all ages.

The Interview Show @ Hideout

The Interview Show celebrates its sixth anniversary at the Hideout, 1354 W. Wabansia Ave., tonight at 6:30pm. Host Mark Bazer talks with chef Paul Kahan and musician Robbie Fulks plus additional special guests. Doors open at 6pm. Admission is $8. 21+

Fillet of Solo Festival

Lifeline Theatre's 17th annual Fillet of Solo Festival of solo performances and storytelling runs Jan. 3-19. Performances are held at the Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., and the Heartland Studio Theatre, 7016 N. Glenwood Ave. Tickets are $10 per show, or $30 for a festival pass, and are available online or at the Lifeline box office.

American Skathic 20th Anniversary @ Metro

American Skathic, a compilation of Midwest ska bands, is 20 years old this winter, and the best way to celebrate is with tonight's show at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St. The lineup features Hot Stove Jimmy, Greenhouse, the Eclectics, Heavy Manners, Skapone, the Exceptions, and DJ Chuck Wren. Tickets are $13 in advance, $15 day-of. Doors open at 8pm, show starts at 8:30pm. 18+

, the "Outer Space Disco Dancing Society of Chicago," celebrates the new year and its first anniversary at Neo, 2350 N. Clark St., from 10pm to close. Special guest Jesse De La Pena will spin along along with resident DJs Mörk, Alinka, Trancid, Chris Grant and Karl Almaria. $5 cover at the door. 21+
