Webster's Wine Bar (1480 W. Webster) hosts a wine-tasting benefit tonight from 6-9pm for Chicago's Center for Changing Lives, an organization working to build financial and housing stability for people experiencing homelessness, housing instability or financial challenge. Your $45 admission ($50 at the door) gets you wine, beer, and heavy appetizers.
Tuesday Funk, the eclectic monthly reading series sponsored by Gapers Block, fills the upstairs bar at Hopleaf, 5148 N. Clark St., tonight for readings by Mare Swallow, Cameron McGill, Tom Underberg, Amelia Beamer and Chuck Sudo. Andrew Huff and Eden Robins cohost. Doors open at 7pm sharp, and the show begins at 7:30pm. Free, 21+
Hospitality plays with Air Waves and Alvvays at Schubas, 3159 N. Southport Ave., tonight at 8pm. Tickets are $12. 21+
This annual event of special lunch and/or dinner prix-fixe dining ends tonight after a two-week stint at places all over the city, among them Balena, Trencherman, and Naha. The offerings can be a mixed bag, but it's worth the risk.
