YarnCon runs today and Sunday at Plumbers Union Hall, 1340 W. Washington St. The show features dozens of independent crafters, yarn makers, pattern companies, and more. Maybe sign up for a class (additional fees apply). The show is open from 10am to 5pm today. Admission is free.

Sound Opinions workshop @ Old Town School of Folk Music

The Old Town School of Folk Music presents a workshop with the co-hosts of Sound Opinions, Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot. Their topic will be "Everything You Need to Know About the Music Industry in 2014," and will be geared at bands who are looking for tips to help promote their music. Chicago Improv Festival

The 17th annual Chicago Improv Festival runs March 31 to April 6 at locations around the city. There are 32 shows scheduled for tonight, beginning at 5pm; see the CIF schedule for full details.

Chicago Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film

The Chicago Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Film runs Friday and today at Loyola's Sullivan Center, 6339 N. Sheridan Rd. Today's program begins at 1pm, and includes a panel discussion with filmmakers Harun Mehmendinovic, Muamer Celik and Igor Drljaca, and screenings of Love in Sarajevo (the first known film with sound from the Bosnia-Herzegovinia), and An Episode in a Life of an Iron Picker. Baconfest Master Class @ Whole Foods--South Loop

Swing by Whole Foods - South Loop (1101 S. Canal Street) at noon today for a chef-led cooking class all about bacon. Two-time Golden Rasher Award winner Chef Matt Troost from Chicago's Three Aces will explore inventive and delicious new ways to serve the smoky salty treat. Chicago Underground Film Festival

The 21st annual Chicago Underground Film Festival runs April 2-6 at the Logan Theatre, 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave. Today's films include shorts programs at 2, 3 and 6pm; La Ășltima pelĂ­cula at 7pm, two more shorts programs at 8 and 9pm, and Shadow Zombie at 10pm. Tickets are $8 per screening, or get a festival pass for $60.

Tropical Depression @ LVL3

Join the contemporary art gallery, LVL3, at 1542 N. Milwaukee Ave for their opening reception of Tropical Depression. The event is free and open to the public today from 6-10pm.

Spaghetti Wrestling w/Chicago Outfit

The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby hosts its annual spaghetti wrestling fundraiser tonight at Double Door, 1572 N. Milwaukee Ave. Watch derby girls fight over -- and in -- pasta, and even get involved yourself in the audience challenge round. Vaudezilla Burlesque opens, and DJ Vader spins. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 the door. Get $1 off admission for every two canned goods you bring at the door ($5 max). Doors open at 8pm.
