Chicago Latino Film Festival
The Chicago Latino Film Festival runs April 4-17. Films primarily screen at the AMC River East 21, 322 E. Illinois St., as well as the Gene Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St.; see the full schedule for showtimes and locations.
Write Club @ Hideout
The Hideout presents the monthly meeting of Write Club. Founder Ian Belknap presides over a series of literary bouts, as various Chicago actors and authors take up opposing viewpoints and give a rousing speech. The winner, judged by a panel of knowledgeable experts, receives a donation for his or her preferred charity. Write Club starts at 7:00pm, and admission is $10 at the door. Hideout: 1354 W. Wabansia. Open Books and Laugh @ Laugh Factory
Open Books and the Laugh Factory Chicago present Open Books and Laugh: Stand Up for Literacy tonight at the Laugh Factory, 3175 N. Broadway, at 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm). Tickets are $20, or $30 for VIP seating; proceeds benefit Open Books.
