The series 10 x 9 comes to Uncommon Ground (3800 N. Clark) as 9 readers take on the theme of "love." Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Awards
The Guild Literary Complex's 21st annual Gwendolyn Brooks Open Mic Reading & Award is tonight from 7 to 9:30pm at the Chopin Theatre, 1543 W. Division St. Twenty poets will read their work, and the audience will vote on who takes home the $500 prize. Special guests Nora Brooks Blakely, the Aurora Performance Group and Marian Hayes will also read. Admission is $8, $6 for students.
