The Cold Waves industrial music festival runs tonight and Saturday at the Metro, 3730 N. Clark St. Tonight's lineup includes Fear Factory, Die Krupps, Acumen Nation, Author & Punisher, SMP and Cyanotic. There will also be guest DJs, a silent auction and raffle, a Wax Trax! Records popup shop, Revolution beer specials and more. Doors open at 5:30pm, show's at 6:30pm. Tickets are $42, or get a two-day pass for $72. A portion of proceeds benefit Hope for the Day, a local nonprofit using music and the arts to battle suicide. 18+
The Best Burger in Chicago gets crowned tonight as part of this weekend's Chicago Gourmet. You'll sample the burgers and vote for the best. Tickets $125. Event takes place 6-9pm on the rooftop of the Harris Theater, 205 E. Randolph St.
Megan Stielstra, Dmitry Samarov and Wendy Ortiz read from their memoirs at Exploring Creative Nonfiction at Unabridged Bookstore, 3259 N. Broadway, tonight at 7pm. A brief Q&A follows each reading, and the authors will sign copies of their books. Refreshments served.
