True story show This Much Is True returns to Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro, 3905 N. Lincoln Ave., tonight, with special guests Jen Bosworth, David Doyle, Mike Manship, Megan Wells and Paul Whitehouse, as well as regulars Scott Whitehair and Stephanie Douglass. Doors open at 6:45, show starts at 7:30pm. Free.
Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., welcomes mc chris with opening acts MC Lars and Spose. Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $17 at the door. It's a 17+ show.
The Silent Film Society of Chicago screens The Monster, starring Lon Chaney, at 8pm at the Portage Theater, 4050 N. Milwaukee Ave., as part of its Silent Horror Film Festival Oct. 12-14. Tickets are $10, or get a three-day pass for $24. Doors open at 7pm.
Homeroom presents Fan Fiction 101 tonight at 9pm at the Hungry Brain, 2319 W. Belmont Ave. Keidra Chaney, Ray Van Fox and Chris Bower teach you all you need to know about what fanfic is and how to write it. No cover, but donations accepted. 21+
