ChillFest

ChillFest returns to Wicker Park and Bucktown today. From noon to 5pm today, catch free concerts by local musicians at unconventional venues throughout the neighborhoods, all for free. Then at 6:30pm, the Subterranean, 2011 W. North Ave., hosts the closing concert featuring the Soil & the Sun, Mike Golden & Friends, Safe Haven, Brother StarRace and The Root Cause. Admission is $15.

Festival of Barrel Aged Beers @ UIC Forum

Dubbed the "the country's largest celebration of wood and barrel aged beer," the UIC Forum (725 W. Roosevelt) transforms into the Illinois Craft Brewers' Guild's Festival of Barrel Aged Beers. Sample the suds of 90+ brewers (300+ varieties!); your $55 admission includes 15 tastings. Runs in two sessions, 1-5pm and 6-10pm.

Pie Basics @ Fearless Food Kitchen

Perfect your holiday pie-baking today at Fearless Food Kitchen, 5917 N. Broadway St., 1-3pm. Chef Sarah Jane Mallin will walk you through making a great crust and selecting the right filling. You'll have a crust to take home as well! Admission $55.

Ancient Game Day @ Oriental Institute

The Oriental Institute at U of C hosts an Ancient Game Day today from 2 to 5pm at the museum, 1155 W. 58th St. Kids 8 and older and their parents can learn about games from ancient Egypt, Persia and Assyria, and play them within the galleries. Admission is free, but RSVP required.

Pre-Holiday Wine Tasting @ Volo

Volo Restaurant Wine Bar (2008 W. Roscoe Ave.) hosts their annual pre-holiday wine tasting today from 3 to 5pm. Eight boutique wines will be paired with holiday-themed gourmet bites (last year's pairings included Turducken with Pinot Noir and Cranberry Upside Down Cake with Brachetto). The tasting is walk-around with open seating available throughout the restaurant. Tickets are $35.

Streetlight 2.0 Video Screenings @ Roman Susan Gallery

Roman Susan Gallery ANNEX, 1637-1643 W. Howard St. will be hosting a video screening tonight at 6pm. Twenty-one artists will be featured at the screening, which is free and open to the public.

Essay Fiesta @ Book Cellar

The Book Cellar, 4736-28 N. Lincoln Ave, hosts the monthly Essay Fiesta live reading series, featuring local authors reading first-person, nonfiction essays. The event starts at 7pm. All donations at the event go to 826 Chicago, the nonprofit writing & tutoring center.

She's Crafty @ Cubby Bear

She's Crafty, the world's only all-female Beastie Boys cover group, lets the beat, mmm drop at the Cubby Bear, 1059 W. Addison St., tonight, with Girlband opening. Doors are at 8pm, show's at 9pm. Tickets are $7. 21+

Polkaholics @ Red Line Tap

The Polkaholics celebrate their 17th birthday with a show at Red Line Tap, 7006 N. Glenwood Ave., tonight at 9pm. Blue Ribbon Glee Club opens. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door. 21+
