Tonight from 5 to 11pm, CH Distillery (564 W. Randolph) celebrates the launch of a new spirt they made in collaboration with Ale Syndicate (2601 W. Diversey). Spirit of du Sable is a barrel-aged and distilled version of Ale Syndicate's du Sable Hoppy Saison beer, a spirit that CH's head distiller described as having "a hop and saison yeast aroma with a malty palate... underpinned by oak aging." At the event, CH Distillery is offering a Side by Side, which is a sample of the spirit and beer ($14) and specialty cocktail In Good Company (Spirit of du Sable, honey syrup, walnut bitters, orange bitters, angostura; $11). Local band Big Sadie will perform from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Barley's Angels is hosting a guided tasting of Belgian beers tonight from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at The Bar on Buena (910 W. Buena Ave). Christina Canto from Penrose Brewing will be on hand to talk about what makes Belgian Beers unique. Snacks will also be provided. Tickets are $20.
Martyrs', 3855 N. Lincoln Ave., hosts the monthly Moth StorySLAM this evening at 8pm. A group of randomly selected audience volunteers will have a chance to tell a 5-minute story on the evening's theme, "Cold." The winner of tonight's StorySLAM advances to the Grandslam Championships. More details at The Moth. Admission is $8 at the door; plan on arriving early, as this is a very popular event.
